Campus Policies Regarding Procedures for Students and Others to Report Criminal Actions or Other Emergencies

Lee College Security Officers of the Lee College Security Services Office should be notified of any problems or crimes committed on the campus. Security Officers will then notify the Baytown Police Department, if necessary. If you are the victim of a crime and do not want to pursue action within the Campus System or the criminal justice system, Lee College allows any victim or witness to report crimes on a voluntary, confidential basis by contacting a Lee College Security Officer.

Calling Security

Security officers are equipped with radio phones, which have direct access to the red telephones located in every hallway and elevator of every building on campus.

If a Security officer's services are required, either …

  • Pick up a red emergency phone or blue light parking lot phone
  • Dial #6888 from an on-campus phone
  • Dial 281.425.6888, if from an off-campus phone
  • Dial 281.683.1449 for Security Dispatch

In case of major crimes, such as sexual assault or murder, call the Baytown Police Department first. Dial 9.911 from a campus phone.

Policies for Making Timely Warning Reports to Members of the Campus Community

In the event that a situation arises, either on or off campus, that, in the judgment of the Security Captain, constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat, a campus-wide “timely warning” will be issued. The warning will be issued through the college email system and text messaging to students, faculty, and staff. It will also be posted at the front doors of the Student Center, Cafe '34, and Library. Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report the circumstances to the Security Services office 106 in the Student Center or by phone at 281.425.6475 and after office hours at 281.425.6888.

Policies for Preparing the Annual Disclosure of Crime Statistics

Lee College Security Services prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. Security Services includes the annual crime statistics report to the college's emergency procedures booklet that is made available to all students and employees during each registration and in the Lee College Security Services offices in rooms 106 and 107 of the Student Center. The crime statistics can also be found on the Security Services Web page. The Institutional Effectiveness Committee includes the crime statistics data in the Institutional Effectiveness Report Card, which is published on the college website as part of Lee College Goal 8: We will maintain a safe and inviting physical environment.

Policy Statement Addressing Counselors

Counselors are encouraged, if and when they deem it appropriate, to inform persons to report crimes on a voluntary basis for inclusion into the annual crime statistics. Violations of law will be referred to law enforcement agencies and, when appropriate, to the Vice President of Student Affairs for review. When a potentially dangerous threat to the Lee College community arises, timely reports or warnings will be issued through email announcements, text messages, the posting of flyers, in-class announcements, or other appropriate means.

Policies for Disclosing Incident Reports to Members of the Campus Community

Incident reports are made available in two ways. First, all incident reports are available for review in the Security Services Facility or in the Vice President of Finance and Administration office. Second, the Security and Safety Committee reviews the reports at each meeting.

Policy statement Addressing Criminal Activity off Campus

When a Lee College student is involved in an off-campus offense, Security Officers may assist with the investigation in cooperation with local, state, or federal law enforcement. Baytown Police routinely work with campus officers on any serious incidents occurring on-campus or in the immediate neighborhood surrounding the campus. Lee College operates no off-campus housing or off-campus student organization facilities.
