Program Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes
Title Description
Content Knowledge Recall facts, explain principles and theories, apply factual knowledge, principles and theories to solve problems in a specific discipline (note: content knowledge related to a core learning outcome is part of the core learning outcome; content knowledge that is not related to a core learning outcome is “content knowledge”, e.g., knowledge of business structures, key signatures, metal alloys, electrical codes, etc.)
Empirical and Quantitative Skills Graduates of the Process Technology program will demonstrate the ability to manipulate and analyze numerical data and observable facts to draw informed conclusions. Students will apply quantitative reasoning and analytical skills to evaluate process conditions, troubleshoot operational issues, and recommend effective solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency in industrial environments.
To be determined This is a placeholder for course goals that have not been mapped to program learning outcomes
Teamwork Ability to consider different points of view and to work effectively with others to support a shared purpose or goal
Employment Skills Conduct a job search, demonstrate behaviors that increase the likelihood of receiving offers of employment, describe strategies for career advancement

Critical Thinking Skills Graduates of the Process Technology program will demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze operational issues, evaluate data, and implement effective solutions in industrial environments. Students will use logical reasoning, technical knowledge, and safety considerations to troubleshoot process systems, optimize performance, and make informed decisions that support efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Communication Skills Graduates of the Process Technology program will effectively develop, interpret, and express ideas through written, oral, and visual communication appropriate to industrial settings. Students will demonstrate the ability to prepare clear technical documentation, deliver concise presentations, and interpret process data visually to support operational decisions. These skills ensure graduates can collaborate with diverse teams and convey critical information accurately in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Personal Responsibility Graduates of the Process Technology program will demonstrate the ability to connect choices, actions, and consequences to ethical decision-making in industrial operations. Students will evaluate scenarios involving safety, environmental impact, and regulatory compliance, applying ethical principles to guide responsible decisions. This outcome ensures graduates understand the broader implications of their actions and prioritize integrity, accountability, and sustainability in process technology environments.
Social Responsibility Graduates of the Process Technology program will demonstrate intercultural competence, knowledge of civic responsibility, and the ability to engage effectively in regional, national, and global communities. Students will recognize the impact of cultural diversity and ethical practices on industrial operations, collaborate respectfully across diverse teams, and apply civic principles to promote safety, sustainability, and social responsibility within the process technology field.
Physical Skills Graduates of the Process Technology program will perform skilled physical tasks with strength, fine motor control, hand‑eye coordination, fluency, and speed. Students will safely operate process equipment, execute precise adjustments, assemble and disassemble components, and handle tools and materials to specification. Performance demonstrates adherence to safety protocols, efficient workflow, and accurate execution under time constraints, supporting reliable startup, shutdown, sampling, and maintenance activities in industrial process environments.
